Just went for a ride on my bike and as I was riding the bike died and started up while i was riding, it did this like 5 times on the way into town, and like 5 times on the way back, it did it at like 50-60mph..So i got home and found that I had a Code..It says
B1007 Ignition Line Overvoltage Instruments
I have no idea what or where to start
Does anyone have a clue or has anyone ever pulled this code on their bike? I'm a little confused but I dont rly know what to do, Im going to give me HD Dealer a call tomorrow if I dont get some ideas plz
Sorry Ed, that's a pretty obscure error and the descriptor isn't much help. I haven't thumbed through one, but the electrical manual should have diagnostic trees to help you track that down. If you're out of warranty I'd suggest buying the book and starting there.
Good Luck!
Does anyone know what might cause b1007 "Ignition Line Over Voltage Instruments".. i'm getting that and my bike will periodly shut off and stall while riding and/ or misfire.

you have a pinched wire under you dash, most likely between the tank dash suport brakets and the screws that go into the dash to hold it

I was told that it might be the voltage regulator so I tried to see if the bike would spike to a certain voltage to see if the regulator was bad..I checked the battery and it read 12.48 and what i started the bike it spiked to 14.28, so i guess it isnt the voltage regulator, so now im back to square one again
Ah sweet another good answer looks like we posted at the same time, I will go out to the garage and try my bike again to see if there is any wires under there that might be messed up
I have a 2008 police RK (with the higher output charging system), and recently installed the new analog speedo/tach PN 70900070. I also run TTS Mastertune ecm program. I experienced same problem recently but had attributed it to moisture (it started an hour after a downpour). I have errors b1006 AND b1007, which are apparently accessory over-voltage and ignition over-voltage. I am quite sure there is no wire pinched in my dash, but I admit my detachable aftermarket fairing with stereo that charges my ipod, a 45Wx4 RMS amp, GPS with FM transmitter, and cig lighter may be the cause of b1006, especially since I can also run road lights with my headlights bright.
Code B1006 will be displayed when line accessory voltage is greater than 16.0 Volts for more than 10 seconds.
Code B1007 will be displayed when ignition line voltage is greater than 16.0 Volts for more than 5 seconds.
This is telling that your instruments are geting to much
voltage should be 11.6V-13.8V
i would check the voltage regulator probably it is faulty, check also the Battery ground cable !
put a voltmeter at the battery and if motor runing
it should read about 13.2V if more then 13.8V then replace
the Regulator.
I am taking the fairing off and clearing the codes to see if the new speedo/tach is a problem by itself, and will be splitting the rest of the loads to put the radio related stuff on that circuit. I am glad that the error occurs and the ecm temporarily resets the circuit. While it is unsettling to have the engine cut out and return intermittently, it's better than blowing a fuse.
