Sorry not much experience in that dept.i can tell you that thicker is more cushy deluxe comfort, and thinner is harder but looks much nicer. At 185 lbs my stock Fatbob seat has to be the most comfy stock seat i have ever had. And i recently aquired the SB solo seat for cruzin on my own!
Side note I know a guy who had the back end of his stock seat curled up a bit and that fixes the sliding backwards issue. Also agreeing with Rollamo the wife has to be petite and willing to sit close to the rider. I forgot that i never sit back there!

I'll agree with maddghost is saying that the stock Fat Bob seat is very comfortable, as long as your by yourself. It's a great looking seat, but it's not very good at all for carrying your wife as I was told after riding one block.
Of course it does not look as good as the stock seat.
There are lots of other options out there also. Some of the aftermarket seats that do look good are said to be comfortable, but I haven't had any experience with them.
But I don't think you can beat the comfort of the Touring Seat for two up riding with the wife.
I thought the stock seat was comfortable, but it's not meant for touring with a passenger and fails in that department.
I bought a Corbin Dual Tour, which is expensive but more comfortable for me than the stock seat, and excellent for my passengers. I think it looks nice as well.
I went with the Mustang Vintage Wide and couldn't be happier. Way more compfortable than the stock seat.
Looks great. Did you notice any difference in ride position? I had the same seat on my VN2000 and rode 1000 miles a day many times over a 2 week period and was very comfortable.
