Default Calling all wrenches, I have a strange noise

I have a noise that popped up about a year ago and I have yet to identify where it is coming from. Going over washboard or hitting any kind of divot in the road will cause it to occur. Sometimes it only manifests itself when the rear tire has made contact with the bump and sometimes it is the front and back that will cause it. It sounds like a collection of things smacking around all at once and as best I can tell, it sounds like it is coming from the console area of the bike. If it were the engine, I don't know that I could hear it as loudly as I do. I thought it might be the steering head bearing but the sound doesn't *seem* to come from that area. 2005 Low Rider...any ideas?

did you remove the dash to check if there is anything floating around between the dash and tank? unlikely - but based on your description - maybe something you should check?

Check and make sure the tank bolts are tight. After having my tank off once I didnt get it tight and it would make a clunk when hitting some bumps.

I'll double check the bolts on the console and the tank. It's of course impossible to replicate what inertia does to a bike which makes it a complete guessing game unless someone has had the problem before. Thanks for the input so far.
