My new '08 Dyna Street Bob ran like a champ until I took it to the dealer for the routine 1,000 mile workup. On the way home it ran like crap. Dealer says "bad throttle position sensor and bad manifold pressure sensor". Anybody else had mysterious problems appear immediately after a "routine" oil change and checkup?
Really need more info, but I doubt very seriously those 2 sensors took a crap at the same time. I have not seen too many, if any, posts on those going bad. Those are probably the codes set and when they did your service they boogered something up that is causing conditions to set those codes, not sure how that could happen on that particular service. Like the old saying, if there is a screw there, someone will turn it. Of course, without seeing the bike and knowing all the particulars, it is all subjective assumptions on my part.

I'm guessing I would've had problems after my 1k checkup if I hadn't noticed that they WAY OVERFILLED my engine with oil and took some out . . . I've lost all faith in them.
Mine did the same thing. And "adjusted" my belt so loose you could push it more than an inch with little resistance. Drained the excess oil, cleaned out my intake and readjusted my belt to the proper tension. Now, why did I pay them money for labor?
Unless something is broken and under warranty, I'll do it myself.
My battery failed completely about 60 miles after the 1K service. Fixed by HD in less than six hours, and the bike's been great since then. Have about 1600 on her now.
I've been extremely lucky with the dealerships I have dealt with, the services and builds have been spot on and no issues. Still, just received my J&S lift and will be doing my own services from now on. About to do my 15K service, figure that with the lift and the supplies I will still come out ahead of the $500 the dealership charges for the same service.
Suggest you look into a service manual and do your services yourself as well.

I too would find it very unusual for both these sensor to go bad simultaneously.
Is it just a coincidence the signal for both sensors is supplied by the Vehicle Speed Sensor? Any issues with the speedo or signal canceling?
