I'll do some before and after vids and get them on YouTube. I'm just going to remove the stock baffle entirely; I want some volume!!!

The baffles on the Street Bob and Fat Bob are held in by three rivets. Just drill out the rivets and then use a broom handle to knock the baffles out. With a couple taps they come right out. They are not press-fit in like on the Screamin' Eagle street legal muffs where you have to practically destroy them to get them out.

Really? It's just those rivets at the end of the pipe holding it in and not a weld? If so, that makes my life easier. Drill out the rivets, and boom. I CANT WAIT - I hate the way my bike sounds (way too quiet!) hurry up work and be over so I can go home and get modding!!!

Ok sorry!! I forgot to mention the rivets!! I guess bashing was to harsh of a word for some people!! Bash smartly to draw a better picture for the special apes! MAD you used the right word, "poke." Sometimes even with the rivets the baffles may still be stuck in there. If you aren't stupid about it and hitting the baffles like you're trying to kill it you won't wrinkle the chrome. Make sure you have a piece of wood and under it with a towel. This is what I've done for stockers and for the V&H slips on to get the quite baffles out. For the V&H I took a broom stick and had to hit it pretty hard and they are still shinny and not wrinkled.

No weld. And unless you know what you are doing, be careful drilling out the rivets. Use a 1/4" bit and just drill until you've cut through the rivet cap. You are not trying to drill all the way through. Once you've breached the rivet cap the rivet should just fall out, or you may have to use a small punch or screw driver to drive it out.

(Also, the mufflers have to be off the bike.)

Besides making your bike sound like schitt, do you know what that will do to your power? Your bike was tuned with back pressure, changing that and you will lose power plus gas milage. Harley's aren't known for a bunch of power anyway.

I would not take out the baffles and just leave the pipes "open." You need some back pressure. Replacing your stock baffles with BCT's would give you the sound you want and not hurt the performance much, if any.

He said he was putting BCT "header" baffles in, so he has to take out the stock baffles.

I was replying to this... and agreeing with him that the BCT's will work.

I was never planning on running open pipes; perhaps my wording was too ambiguous. The stock baffles are being gutted out and I'm putting in the BCT Thunder Monsters in the head-pipes.
