I have mini apes from a Street Bob on my fxdc as well. I got mine from a forum member for 40 bucks. I think you can pick up a new set for around 60 bucks from the moco. (not sure on the price tho).

I would highly recommend this.

I can't remember if changing the brake line or clutch cable was "Required", however I seem to remember it was required. I have swapped my bars and risers too many times to really remember at this point=), You can ask the parts guys for this info.

You will have to change out the throttle/control cables. I got some new stock take offs from ebay for 7 bucks off softail(stock black ones, not like the nice diamond back with the silver coating)/see below.

I would recommend some nice new Diamond back cables, (See my pick for the cables) with your store credit and as well as the chrome Street Bob mini apes.

I can tell you that the riding position with the mini apes has greatly improved my comfort and ability to ride for longer extended periods of time over the stock buckhorns. IMHO I think they look better as well.

Good luck to you,

Cheers,

Tom

Tyler: If a set of 3.5 inch straight risers would work, I have a set from J&P Cycles sitting right here in front of me that need a good home. The bars will be slightly closer to you even with straight riser because of the fork angle.

archergodwin; I'm loving the look of those street bob take-offs! I didn't even think about doing something like that... Hmmm... What'd those set you back if you don't mind me asking...
The bars were 40 bucks from a forum member, and the cables/brake line (stock) was 50 bucks from a forum member. I did this as a stepping stone to make sure I liked the mini ape bars, because I wanted to wind up with the fat mini apes.

I will have a set of Streetbob cables and brake line available in about 2 weeks or so.... after I install my Barnett cables and Diamondback brake lines.

Has anyone heard if 4 1/5 " curved risers work on the custom without a cable change.

Installed the HD 4 1/2" risers on my 2011 FXDC just a couple of weeks ago. They did the trick as far height and pullback. Was able to retain all the existing cables without a problem. If I had to do it again, I would do it in a heart beat.

I've been considering these for my 2010 FXDC.

I have a 3.5 inch riser set coming from ebay for 35 bucks. That will work till winter and then I hope to put street bob size chrome bars on. I have a stainless bar and it is the best fit for me.
