Okee dokee. I'm probably going to be cursing once I get the answer for the question. I just put on some SE heads and adjustable push rods. Now I can't get the clips on because they are too long. Did I do something wrong or do I need to cut them?
Do not cut them if they came with the pushrods, they are the right length. They are kinda difficult to install if its your first time. Make sure you dont have any of the old o-rings in there with the new ones. Have someone push the tubes while you install the clips. Its much easier with another set of hands especially for your first install.
Hmm. Did the pushrods come with shorter tubes to allow for adjustment? I used the SE ones on my build.
Either way if they are stock tubes and clips, no reason why they shouldnt go back in. Doubt the heads and gaskets could be that much shorter to not allow installation of the clips.
I pushed the top of the clip in and rested it against the bottom tube, then I had my brother push down on the lower tube with a screwdriver while I pushed the clip in and it snapped in....just barely.

put the top of the clip in
then use a narrow screwdriver at the bottom of the clip
with the tip of the screwdriver at the top of the lower cover
lift the handle of the screwdriver pushing the spring loaded lower cover down
do not get too violent, but you do need to put the pressure on.
push the clip into place when you have levered everything far enough
it will snap into place.
never tried to type that before. hope it is coherent.
