Got the first step to redoing my rear fender done. I am still waiting on my LED lighted frame but the plate is on anyway. I like the looks of vertical plates better but since many states are cracking down and I ride in 4 different states on a regular basis I figured it was better to be safe.
Next got to get my turn signals into brake lights and get a rear fender to cut, fill and paint.
Yeah, I've been reading about how some states are cracking down on vertical mounted side plates. Somewhere (on these forums maybe) I saw a side mount that allows you to go vertical or horizontal. I think it was a simple twist and it popped into place.

Ya thats a nice mount but its like $250 to $300 depending on which you get.
I was in the process of making my own mount when I found this one for $15. It wasnt worth my time to build one for $15 so I went with this.
Does anyone know what the reasoning is for not allowing vertical mounted plates in some states? Other than something else to write a ticket for and bring in revenue.
I'm new to the forum. I've got a a '09 super glide custom. I would like to relocate the license plate to the side also, like I had on my Sporty Iron 883. Where did you order the mounting bracket? How hard is it to move the license plate?

I bought a longer shock bolt because I wanted mine mounted to inside of the shock. Took at the lower shock bolt and put the mount on the new one. Also added a washer to each side of the mount. It still gives the nut over a 1/2 inch clearance from the pulley.

Holy crap! I didn't know it was that much. I can't see spending that kind of money on a license playe bracket. Tor that kind of money they should send a hooker for the night too. lol Fifteen bucks...now that's much better.

I heard some people say that the cops can't read the plate when it's vertical and that they lost out on ticket revenue because of it.
Looks perfect. Now just get a frame for the plate. Looks kinda bare without one, ya know?
On another note.... the scoot is looking BADASS!! Very nice ride that thing is turning into.
Here in Florida.. if you get pulled over with a vertical license plate, its a $1,000 fine for the first offense. 2nd offense is $2500 and 3rd offense is like a criminal violation or some ****.. reaaaaaaaaaaaally dumb if you ask me. BUT, its cause of all the dumbass crotch rocket riders who tuck there license plate under there fender inside there wheel well. Because of those morons, we now have this law.
