Anyone have any experience with Wiley X sunglasses....to be more specific...XL-1 model
I'm looking for good quality sunglasses.....although with one eye, I should get a 1/2 price discount LOL
I have never used any sunglasses with the gasket in then and am wondering if the gasket really helps.
I ride with a 1/2 helmet...no windshield....
any help will be greatly appreciated....
I don't want to lay out big bucks for Wiley's if they don't do anything...but with one eye I need good quality
both opticaly and safety
I use wiley x shades when I ride. I like them they really cut down the wind I get in my eyes. As for saftey the army issues them as ballistic glasses so they should be pretty safe. I'm not sure on the model number of mine but they come with removable arms that you can replace with an elastic strap which is also nice because you know they are not going any where. They also come with clear lenses for night riding. I haven't tried to many other kinds besides a set I bought from the stealer when I got my bike. The Wiley X shades are a lot better.
Patch, I have the SG-1's and they are the cat's ***! Like T said, the ARMY issues these for the guys over in Iraq. A buddie from work actually gave me mine and he got 4 or 5 pair issued to him over yonder. I could not find a pair of glasses that cut down on the wind to the eyes= snot ran wild out the nose. I couldn't believe these Wiley X's when I first tried them. No wind, no snot! Cool! I only wear mine as goggles with the strap so can't comment on the sunglasses. Timmer
I have the XL-1 and they work great. I wear a beanie and go without my windshield unless I am going on a long trip. I wear contacts and never have a problem with wind or dust getting in my eyes. I never use the strap and they still stay on with no problems.
I have pantopx diablos. I think the are great. its a soft foam that mold to the eye socket. no wind whatso ever. They also tint and lighten with sunlight. perfect! little pricey though at about 200 bucks.....worth every penny. also wear the half helmate and no winshield.
I have a pair that I had made up as prescription lenses and they're so comfortable I wear them while driving my car also. Another thumbs up for Wiley-X
Whatever you do, don't buy HD Profile Glasses/Goggles. I've bought two pair and both have had an arm break off. Cheap @ss plastic. At $125 a pop it's the worst $250 I've ever spent.
Now I've got to try and find something else that seals around the eye. I have contacts and can't ride unless I have a seal around the eyeballs...I think I'll look up these Wiley X's and see what they look like.
For all of you that have them, have you ever had an arm just break off of them?
