Just paid $90 for a new tube and rear tire change here in Seoul, plus $40 to bring the bike here. Now have to ride 1 hr back home $130 bucks and three hours down the drain, just because of a nail in the tire. Good news it happened outside my office not on the road.
While many love spoke wheels no thank you, can do a patch and be back on the road in 10 mins if have a flat on my Mag style tubeless tires...
That was another seller for me with the fatbob + if you saw the shape of the roads here in QC. you would all freak! pot holes, sink holes, rutts, uneven manhole covers, every time I hit a big one I'm thankful I have no spokes.
Spiritwarrior I know it sucks man but at least you weren't going 60 + as you said! The other night i rolled in to home and was sure I heard a hissing from the back tire!My heart was in my throat! Then the wind died and the tree quieted down....whew close one there!
Here's a rookie question for you all. Is there much of a difference in handling between spoked and mags? I'm thinking the spoked might be more forgiving in turns but I could be all wet on that?
I haven't experienced any flats yet(knock on wood) but I'm sure I will some day but for the simple reason that I spend to much time trying to get keep my stock spokes not to rust. The next factory stock bike I get is gonna have solid mag types. I don't want to be on spoke rust duty anymore, And I don't feel I should have to pay for stainless steel spoked wheels when they will look just like the spoke wheels I got now.
Had spokes on many Bikes and never found any advantage to their handling just found them to be a PITA because of keeping the spokes in tune and having a tube to worry about both..

Your not kiddin! I thought Toronto was bad, last time I went to Montreal (Think it was September) My Car was loaded with 5 people and with all the potholes I think we bottomed out at least 5 times! after everyone of them I kept thinking thank god I wasnt on my bike for that one.
