Sorry to bother with simple questions. I just got it this morning How tall a set of apes and on the street bobs with stock cables? I got approval from the boss on a set of slip ons from the wife, what is evryone running.
I tried to do the search and could not find anything.

If I remember right they are 12". I went to 16" Apes and enjoy the ride. I also run SE A/C stage 1 kit, Vance & Hines Fuel Pak, and Vance and Hines Big Shot Staggerds pipes. I really noticed the diffrence from stock when I went with all this.
You can usually go up 2 to 4 inches with the stock cables. Alot will also depend on how wide they are, if they are also wider than stock you may not be able to go up as much. The brake line is uauslly the first to be to short.
rush slip ons sound good... but you will be happier with a full set of pipes, tuner, and high flow air cleaner.
as for apes... you can go up 2" or so safely without modification. any higher you will need longer cables, wires, and brakes lines. unless you do some rerouting of cables and bending of brake lines...
Jim:
The only slip on pipes authorized by HD that you can put directly on your bike without having them dynoed are the RUSH slip ons. I had the same prob. as you, not enough money, so I put the RUSH black slip ons, on with the 2" baffels and they sound great.
