Default Head light

I have replaced the head light bulb every year I've have my SB, 3 times and ready for number four. I ride with my bright on 75% of the time and average 10-12,000 miles a year. It seems to burn out on 2-3 week trips. I ordered two bright white bulbs (ebay) and intalled one last year. High beam burned out last week. It's really no big deal to replace the bulb. I was just wondering if anyone else has to replace their's on a yearly basis?

I run my bright 95% of the time and do about 12k a year.

I hadnt had to replace my stock bulb yet when I installed my Cobra ll headlight but it only lasted about 2k miles before I had to replace the bulb in it.

You can get a Sylvania Silverstar made for motorcycles. Although I'm currently running the Ultra Silverstar... I've had it in for about 5K miles... no problem as yet.

why dont you go HID? Theres no filament to vibrate and burn out. It lasts at least 10X longer than bulbs and if you do the math for the cost of the bulbs it equals out.

I'm not touching the bulb. I think it may be the constant burning on the longer trips. May have to try the HID bulb.
Thanks.

I still use the stock bulb, my trips on average are 200-300 miles, I dont know the score on the other side of the pond but the light on my FXDC is on all the time with only a dip and high switch, strange as there are no laws over here that say you have to run a bike with the headlight on. I'm very old schol in that respect and am of the mind set that if the light is off then you tend to pay more attention to cages, have they or have they not seen me. Sounds odd but had a realy bad smash in 86 on a bike with the headlight on, dum **** in a truck pulled out on me when I was doing 70+, you can guess the result. Truck 1,me 3 months of hospital food and learning to walk again, did'nt put me off bikes though.

Once a year. Hmmm... Check your voltage regulator. May be the voltage is too high. Don't know if your 06 has a diagnostic speedo. If it does, an error code P0563 might show when you run the diagnostics if the voltage is too high.
