Have you done anything to the bike? I would guess the sound you hear when rolling on might be pinging. Your description of thin swords hitting together sounds familiar. Mine did it too until I changed cams, intake, exhaust and installed a PC3. They run them so lean to meat emissions that detonation is second nature. With the fatter fuel map for my mods I haven't heard the sound since....of course the pipes might be the reason for that.
I do know where you are coming from though. I drove myself crazy with my first Harley too. The valve train rattle and all the other wierd noises made me wonder all the time. I have 15,000 miles on mine with out issue. Go ride, you have better things to stress over I'm sure. (no offense intended)
When was the last dealer service done and what was done? What fuel do you use? Use premium fuel, 92 octane or better, no ethanol 85 if it's overseas. There's something going on in the primary, makes me wonder if the primary oil got drained and didn't refill the primary. If you have the owners manual you can read up on how to check/change primary oil, if it's still in the manual.
There are too many issues with these bikes IMO. The 06 Dynas have several inherent flaws that should be recalled by HD and repaired on ALL of them for free.
1. 8 degree fuel injector cold start problems (TSB) fixed
2. Inner primary bearing/case failures... so far mine is Ok
3. Cheap bolted stator issues...so far mine is Ok
4. Steering head clunk (TSB) not fixed yet
5. Battery box fastener failure recall (fixed)
6. Shifter/neutral light recall (fixed)
7. Front brake reservoir cap seal failure (fixed)
8. rear shock top bolt failure...so far mine is Ok
9. Clutch lever buzz (cheap grommet)
10. Front engine mount isolator failure...mine is Ok
This is way too much for a bike that costs $14,000+
This is the kind of initial design/quality problems that chase long term customers away......if you don't believe it ask anyone at GM or Toyota.
yeah these things should bee like a rolls royce'... they should never wear out in my opinion lol
It's not about "wearing out" anything when your inner primary bearing or stator craps out in less than 10,000 miles. My 8 degree injectors had to be replaced at 900 miles. The shifter/neutral light was repaired at 10 miles. The battery box bolt was replaced at 900 miles and the brake reservoir cap at about 3000 miles.

9 and 10 are the only issues mine has experienced. Aside from that the bike has been flawless and I have no complaint about the quality of the bike. It probably helps that I was OK with buying brand new 1940's technology. Hell that's why I bought it.
I've just been told I need a new motor after 4400 miles. As luck would have it its still under warranty by 3 days!
I appreciate that anything mechanical is subject to failure but at the moment I feel like just selling the thing once I get it back and buying a Triumph or Victory.
I also suspect that riding it home from the dealers once its sorted will make me forget all about doing that!
