No, not the dropping the bike thing, but the "hey is that a Sportster?" question. Guy pulls up next to me to park at a local diner, gets off his Electra Glide and nods and pops the question. I smiled and told him no, that it was a Super Glide. He nodded again and said, "oh yeah, I used to have one of those, they sure are fast." Naturally I agreed with him; after which he proceeded to go on talking about Sportsters.
No offense given, none taken, just thought that it was kinda funny when it finally happened.
Gonna leave work early today and go riding on my Sportster on Steroids.
Agree with all y'all's comments. I figured that if nothing else, he could read the "Super Glide" script on the battery box. Oh well, it brought the first chuckle of the day until one of the guys that I had breakfast with squirted coffee out of his nose, but that's another story.
It's probably a joke. I know I think of a Super Glide as a Sportster, too. So I'm a dick. I had a Sportster back when they were flat heads. This is a 56 KH Sportster.
Kick start and rear brake on left, shifter on right. Mechanical drum brakes on both wheels.

More than likely he was busting your ball, due to he was riding a bagger. Or maybe he could not read and was blind in one eye and could not see out the other. Maybe you should have asked him if that was a goldwing he was riding.
I had a guy ask if my FXDF was a sportster. What the heck... I thought all Harley's looked the same until I actually bought one.. (and I still think MOST look the same--even after mods).
