they stuff extra foam in your current cover. the seats look incorrect with the extra foam. Also you still have the horrible seatpan to contend with. all in all get a mustang as opposed to having turn your seat into a frankenseat.

They don't just stuff more padding in. They reshape the existing, remove some and replace with better.

Do a search, there are many people on this site who have used Mean City Cycles and are quite happy with the results. I haven't personally, but I will in the near future...I just have to pay for my second son first. Priorities and all.

They have great customer service. Response to my question was same day. I have also read they produce excellent results. As Phrogman recommended do a search. Good luck.

Roofer,
From one of my previous posts on the topic:

Well I can say I've done both Mean City and a Mustang seat. I have an '06 LR which the stock seat was, well, as we all know able to make my butt a numb nut after only a few hours of riding. So to make a long story short I went with the Mean City seat. Service was great from Allen and the seat was a major improvement over the stock seat but a days riding still left me butt sore. I kept hearing on this forum that guys with the Mustang seats that could ride for a day with no problem. So bit the bullet and got the Mustang Vintage solo seat. And yes it is an improvement over the MC seat but not that much at least initially. If you read the forums on the Mustang seats some will say that they will "break in" over time and I have to say that is true. While initially a bit better than MC I still didn't think I could do a full day of riding with the Mustang. After putting several hours in the seat I've found the Mustang to be the most comfortable seat yet and indeed I've been able to do a day's riding and still be able to walk afterwards.
While I think seats are like pipes and beauty is in the seat of the beholder, You can't go wrong with the Mustangs.

I purchased a Mean City Cycles modified Wide Glide seat from another forum member and I have been extremely happy with it. I had a Mustang solo on my Sporty, and was also exteremly happy with it. I decided to go the MCC route this time because it was about half the price of a new Mustang. I'd do it again.
The forum member took photos and posted a thread showing exactly what Allen did to the seat I currently have. You can find it here:
https://www.hdforums.com/forum/mean-...-seat-mod.html
He sold this seat because he had asked Allen to move him back a couple of inches and realized later that he didn't like that. It was exactly what I was looking for, though. He now has a Mustang Regal Duke on his. I don't think you could go wrong either way - both are worlds better than the stock set up.

I just road 1200 miles over the weekend on a modified Sundowner that I had Mean City mod. If I could only have one mod done to a new bike this would be it!!!

My seat looks no different than before the mod.

a seat that comes stock with about 3" of padding will look no different than stock. Take a stock seat and modify it by adding enough padding so the memory foam is thick enough to work....you got a frankenseat. The biggest problem with the stock seats is the pan. Mustangs have a flat pan and the foam is supported on the sides so it does not compress and rollover like many other seats. I can go all day on my thin tripper solo due to the shape and construction. I had a lowrider seat done with memory foam before. It really turned out poor. The seams no longer lined up right on the cover (due to the extra foam) and it really was not all that great comfort wise(my but got sore in the same spot as when the seat was stock, only it took an extra hour or two). YMMV of course. oh yeah.... memory foam firms up in cold temperatures(under 70 deg.)

I had them do a badlander seat for my bike. The difference is definitely noticeable as they also moved my riding position back for me. I didn't run into the same problem as Rounder because they did a new cover for me with a flame detail stitched in so the seams line up. BTW, their customer service was excellent!
