I had my taillight go out. No biggie, replaced it, still didn't work. Traced it to a circuit board that connects the rear wiring harness to the taillight and rear directionals. Apparently a pin got corroded up and ate through the trace on the circuit board. I thought it might be worth mentioning a ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure. It would likely be prudent to pull that board and put a liberal dose of dielectric grease on it to avoid corrosion. I've only had it since March 2008, have about 13k miles and have only been in the rain maybe 4-5 times. The board looks more like ten years old with 100k miles on it. Seems only a matter of time until a lot of people have trouble with that board.
I had the same problem with mine 2 weeks ago. Dealer fixed it for free. I looked at the board when I got there to pick up my bike and noticed that it is a peice of ****. It will probably happen again.

It's a common fault. I've had problems with mine in the rain. The board burned out and melted the plastic block that it sits on. A bloke riding behind me smelled burning. My tail lights, brake lights and indicators stopped working and it blew a fuse. The dealer replaced it under the warranty. I will put some grease on it.
Thanks for the info. Turn signals would not come on the other day then fixed them selves then read here about the board. Took the board out and sure enough there was corrison on the pins. There was grease on the board and also lots of water around the plugs came home in the rain 4 days ago so the water had to be there that long. I only have 4000 miles on the bike. I will be checking this often.
