Default 04 05 fxdwg or is it a fxdwgi

In searching for an 04 or 05 wide glide, I found an 04 where the seller says it is FI but the designated model code is labeled fxdwg. I asked him why it was not a fxdwgi as in the 05 wide glide. He said because it was a transition year out of the carb into the FI that they left the same model code for carb and fi as fxdwg and that later the fxdwgi code was introduced for FI.

While it doesn't sound right, what do I know.
Does that sound right to you??

I am pretty sure 04 with FI should be labeled as a fxdwgi but maybe someone else will now for sure.

They dropped the I when all bikes went to FI.

Ask for the VIN and check that, that will tell you for sure.

Are you asking if the bike is really FI because it's missing the 'I' designation? FI started as an option in early part of the decade, It wasn't until 05 or so that it was standard, and not an option.

don't worry about a sellers designation for the model. If it has fuel injection it does not have a choke **** and you can tell that easily from a drive side picture.

Looking at new exhaust for my wife's 04 FXDWGI but most are listed as FXDWG. I would assume that the pipe fitment would be the same for either one. Am I correct on this?

you would be looking for one in the same..
if you go v&h and your looking for quiet, don't buy the v&h quite baffles; they're useless.
I have other recommendations if interested.

Thank you! Not looking for quiet. Looking for cool and loud. Did not want to order something that would not fit.
