I read that same book, at least that part of it. I think it's important to remember that no matter how much of a die hard fan you are or how superior and perfect you might think your harley is, you gotta remember it has shortcomings. Why not help it be all that it can be.
An infrared gun helps. My Dyna ran a lot cooler. Granted it was only a 90 degree day @ 76% humidity. I also put a temporary oil pressure gauge on. I had done the same before I installed the cooler. Oil pressure was up by 14 PSI after the oil cooler installation , and a 80 mile highway run followed by 5 miles of slow traffic. The hotter your oil the lower your oil pressure. I am convincedthe oil cooler is worth every penny. I did not rubber tape my hoses, but after 800 miles of oil cooler service, I have not seen any hose wear or frame paint scuffing. If Ido I will rubber tape mine .
