You didn't steal my thunder, Just saved me some replying.
However the brackets your referring to came with mine..
Your link to the e-bay auction is correct and if you check the pack I got, it shows the brackets in the kit..
ONE WORD of caution ... The mounting bolts that came with mine are on the long side,,
They stick out under the HD rack quite a bit. Very possible to scratch fender when attaching to bike.. Dont ask.
Hmm!! Interesting. Mine were just flat and thin! I had some flat stock steel in my hand at the hardware store and put it down when I was getting the bolts, then I forget to pick it back up. So my dumba$$ has to go back. I like your base plate better. I'm going to do some cutting on mine to make it look better. But here's it mocked up!
Lookin Great, Looks like factory. Good Job
I have one like yours , but no rack on top, and somehow mine looks smaller than yours. I didnt like it maimly because the Shiny Black look wrong on my bike.. Shot is a couple of years old, several mods ago..
I really like it on your bike.. You'll love it on the road.
RonnR, looks like you have yours mounted to a Motherwell Rack. Is there very much wobble when everything is mounted?
Wobble my goodness YES, dont even waiste your time.
This was just for mock-up, before I got the HD detachable rack in..
This combination never saw a mile. Took it off and set in on a shelf and its been there since.
It looks good on JaronB set-up but as I mentioned earlier
the shiny black pack on a demin bike just doesnt look right to my eye.

I got the large one that holds two full face helmets. I figured if I'm going to put one on for touring I want it big enough. I got the detachable windshield so I should be set for a big ride.
Here's the final product. I couldn't find the brackets like RonnR, so I got some 1/8 inch thick pre drilled brackets from Ace. The thing is rock solid and I'll ride with it this week to see how it holds up, but I can't budge it. I had to modify my base plate a little to get it closer to the seat so it's an actual usable backrest. Sorry, cell pics, didn't feel like getting the camera. I need to trim the brackets, but you can't really see them on the bike, so I may not.
At first glance it looks goofy but I could definitely see the pro of the setup on a long ride. Built-in drivers backrest that easily detaches and adds mass storage. Goofy or not, it works. Ride on!
RonnR, I do like the chrome edging on your rear fender. I assume the front is the same way?

I agree, goofy is right. Especially mine. I think JaronB set-up looks good. But either way, sometimes function over fashion.
Heres a shot from a "how to" I'm finishing up, on making any Saddlebag detachable. It shows the front fender trim as well...
More on the Saddlebag thing to come..
