When you say "bend" are you referring to having a larger loop in the cable or what? I wouldn't think it would make that much of a difference only being an inch or two different. IMO the Frisco bars need to be close to the top clamp to look good. When your run a taller riser with bars that are as square as these, the angles end up looking bad to me. I still don't understand why you can't just bolt them on and re-route the cables.

Where the throttle cables come out of the housing there is a L shape of exposed steel. This section of the cable helps align it with the bars and make the transition into the housing. You can straighten out that bend slightly and give yourself a little more length, but the throttle cables will not want to follow the bars as well.

Personally I like a mid height bar on a taller riser then kicked forward to vertical.

If the bars are shorter why would you need more length. Thats what I have been trying to figure out. Is it just a matter of not liking the way the excess cable looks or is there a specific mechanic issue that forces you to do something else? Guys throw drag bars on all the time and it's a bolt on affair. I just don't see why the Friscos are an issue.

I know what have been saying and you are right you can bump the cables around to accommodate for the shorter bars and not have crap sticking out all over the place. I was talking about what could be done if for "wonkaboy" question about maximizing the riser length with the friscos and the stock cables.

Sorry for the confusion. I was under the impression that he felt he had to use a riser based on cable length. I'm going to run these bars as well so it peaked my interest. Thanks for the info.

These bars really are meant to be on the shortest risers possible as well as have the ends cut down as short as the hand controls will allow. Lane splitters ya know..

I'm interested to see how this turns out .... I like the new "Windows" bar they are coming out with. Looks like it would be closer to the same specs as the Mini-Ape .... plus the cross-bar on the top would be a great place to mount a tach.

JRK used to run a 3.5" riser with his stock mini apes and wires and he said that he had to bend his throttle cables slightly. So if the stock risers are 1.5 note that is from the bottom of the riser to the center of the bar, you can go +2" with the stock bars. since your bitchen little friscos are 1.75 shorter you should get +3.75 over stock on the risers. So technically you should be able to run at least a 5.25" Riser. Another thing to consider would be the position of your bars and cable routing can give needed or take away some surpluses cable length.
Thank you and everybodys imput on my confusion , do you think the 4 inch is more than enough or i'm just going to make it, or go with a 5" - 5.25 ? I don't want to have them in the air , what is the night trains riser size ? Thanks Rick
