Hi All,
Been lurking around here reading for a while and got the courage to save myself a little money and do some installs/service. On my 2009 Fat Bob, I completed the 1000-mile service and installed a PCV with no problems. Next up was the Vance & Hines Big Radius (2-into-2). Everything went great until the part where you mount the head pipes into the exhaust ports and connect to the mounting bracket with the nutplate. The directions said to start with the rear cylinder which I did. I could never get the bolts to line up with the mounting bracket (it's about a 1/4-inch off). The front cylinder/exhaust pipe installed perfectly. So, Im curious if anyone had any problems with these pipes fitting/mounting. Im not sure what to do at this point , as I dont want to force it in. It doesnt seem like the head pipe is fitting up tight with the exhaust port. Any suggestions are much appreciated.
i dont know about the vance and hines , but on my rineharts, you cant get the headpipe in the head with the normal style gasket. i have to use the screaming eagle type which is thin and flat where as the normal is a cone shape..
ive seen this issue with the big radius on the forum though.. try a search or maybe someone else will chime in..
Very weird, my Big Radius 2 to 2 went on great...Directions were wrong though, just put them on with common sense. attach to the heads first, finger tight the bolts, then do the rear mount plate. After it all lines up, tighten all.
THanks for the replies guys. I worked at it for a while and finally got everything lined up like it should. THe rear pipe just didnt go in as easy as the front. On a related note, what's been your experience with MPG after mods/upgrades? I've added a PC5, SE heavy breather, and big radius. Any of you noticed an increase/decrease in MPG? Thanks All!
