Thank you all for you words of encouragement and advice. I read many of the installation threads and i fear that this will be a struggle. Not sure when I will attempt to install the pipes, but i will keep everyone informed of my progress.
hey man not sure if you decided to tackle the project yet? i thought of something else that will probably help you during install ...take off the battery box battery and all it makes it alot easier .. good luck

An easy way to instal the 2-1 is to hold the pipe almost upside down and sweep the pipe in (both sides of the header at the same time) starting at the narrow part of the cylinders then up to the exhaust ports at the same time. Once the pie is in place put the exhaust flanges on and lightly put the 4 exhaust bolts on to secure the pipe. The put the rear mounting bolts on lightly to support the pipe a little more. Once this is done tighten the exhaust flange bolt snug then the rear mounting bracket.
My pipe went on real smooth without a hitch this way.
yeah that sounds like it would work i had never done it before and it whipped my *** for a couple of days until i finally figured it out ...i could never get all 4 flange nuts on at the same time.
yours should go on pretty easy its proabably stretched out after bieng on adrians bike... mine goes on alot easier now it was stiff as hell the first time..
I just put on mine, it's from an older Softail. It fit right up no problem. I just took off the mid peg and brought it up from the bottom. The only thing I don't like is how low it hangs. That sucker is going to drag bad. I'm gonna have to do some cutting and welding to get it right.
