Coyote,
Love my bob too... Just finished a 700 mile 2.5 day trip with no problems. Rode 245 miles there each way and 210 while I was there. The rides there and back were 5 hours each. A good mix of twisties, highway, and traffic. Little or no fatigue of course had the windvest on during the long rides. Great Scooter. I have a Motherwell rack, willie and max tour pack and tool pouch. The perfect amount of room for a 3 day trip.
I didn't figure the mileage on this trip but my last mpg figure in town was 36 miles.
I got my Vivid black BOB the first week of may and I can't stop riding it. As much as I loved my Triumph Daytona sportbike I can't believe I ever owned a crotch rocket. The comfort of the miny apes and the solo seat is awsome. My first ride into the country I couldn't stop smiling. I did have the belt guards replaced in favor of the chrome to balance that side of the bike out. I plan on no other chrome now. The exhaust is alittle quiet though and will be investing in that sometime soon. Enjoy!
I love my bob as well, SE intake, rinehart 2 into 1, custom side mount license plate, just relocated my front blinkers tonight, 2000 miles and running strong............................................ .......
While I don't own a Bob,... I do own an 06 SuperGlide and I am really loving it. I think you will be pleased with any of the new Dynas. I chose the SG over the Bob only because I felt the SuperGlide would better suit the customizing route that I wanted to take. A couple of buddies have ridden my SG, one owns a 2000, 1200 Sportster and the other a 1996 Springer. Both love the power of my Dyna and say that its hard to believe how light the clutch effort is and with almost no vibration. The buddy who owns the sportster wants a Bob pretty badly, and the one who has the Springer loves my Dyna but he wants a new Twin Cam bagger now. Since its my first Harley I cant really compare it to other year models, but Its everything I wanted and much more.
Love my bob, love the black denim, love the ride, in fact I just plain love it.
Never had a problem with the kick stand - hit it with my heel everytime I need it
Only been low enough to drag my heel on the ground (I have forwards on), then again, I am a cruiser. If I had wanted fast rides and hard cornering I would have gotten a "ricey", but I just wanted "attitude" and the bob has plenty of that.
I'm looking forward to getting on it....Just seems that everyone I have talked to about it really loves the bike.....I am supposedly getting the last bike in So Cal....they said if I put my name on the list, I can get an 07 but this is the one I want....so i'm on the 06 list for 6/13 black denim Thanks for the replies and keep them coming if you want....I like reading all the good things about my next purchase - positive reinforcement!
Coyote.............what everyone else has said...........and then some! My wife just started riding a year ago April. A friend built her a sporty from the ground up. Figured she'd ride that for a year or two and then MAYBE try something else. In August, we went to the stealership for the introduction of the new models (ok, really we went for the free hot dog!) We hadn't planned on getting her a new bike for at least a year. Of course, they had a brand new Bob right inside the door as you walked in; Cobalt Blue, we looked at it, each other, said "aw ****!" and bought the bike! I've been riding 40 years (yes, fourty), and I don't recall ever seeing a new bike off the floor that I didn't feel needed all kinds of mods right away! Yes, it could use louder pipes, but all the new ones need that! The only thing we've done after a couple hundred miles, is add the HD quick release windshield for long distance comfort. Doesn't spoil the look at all, and allows her to be comfy enough to keep going with me on my 05 Electra Glide Classic. The only other thing we'd like to put on is saddlebags. Otherwise.....probably the most perfect new bike I've ever seen right off the floor! No probs with the stand, and we both drag pegs/boards, all the time. Never had a prob with any screw or anything else scraping........long rides? 300-400 mile days are not a problem on this bike.
Have fun and enjoy this thing! It is truly an awesome motorcycle!
