I have been hearing some bad things about doing long trips with springers.
I really trust yalls advice so this is the question. Will the springer beat you
up on those 1000 + runs? If this means anything i never had a problem before,
with a standard front end and dont run a windsheild either.
The springer front end isn't exactly the optimal design in terms of a plush suspension or fantastic road holding ability. If you want all out comfort stay away, if you don't mind feeling a bit more of the road go for it.
Not all springer front ends ride the same.
My experience is they handle just fine for a cruiser, still able to lean and grind pegs just fine. It also soaks up the road smoothly.
But it can have a jolt on a quick abrubt road change IE some flat to steep drive ramps, rail road tracks etc.
I haven't done over a 1k mile ride in 1 day yet on the springer but close think it was 930 miles roughly from Gatlinburg TN to Rochester MN and my father and I did that in 1 shot no problem he on his Rocker and I on the Sprung WG. Saturday I take off for Virginia a 1300 mile ride that I won't do in one shot but will do it in 2 days.
Springers do just fine if set up correctly etc.
