I'm looking for some links to find a side mount plate bracket for my 08 Street Bob. I have seen some from Road 6 Customs. Has anyone used these, & mounted them to the lower shock bolt?
I have the Road 6 Customs Horizontal mount I got off Ebay for $16. I added a Radiantz LED frame and it turned out pretty good. I wanted to keep it legal so went Horizontal since may states are cracking down on vertical ones.
I mounted it to the inside lower shock bolt to tuck it in as close as I could. I bought a longer shock bolt and had to use 1 washer to space in it a little so the shock would clear it. I also used one washer between it and the nut. This left about 1/2 inch clearance from the shock nut to the pulley.
Don't waste your money on a side mount plate bracket. See my self fabricated mod.
I used a piece of metal ( got it from the bike when I did my forward control upgrade. ) but you can use any L shaped metal as a braket then simply drill and bolt to the plate frame. Can go either vertical or horizontal mount with this set up - done both.
