Default Ordered New Musting Seat

Debated for days now over which seat to order Mustang vs Corbin. Finally decided on the Mustang Vintage Wide Solo. I've got an 09 Low Rider and wonder if I need the seat nut kit that Mustang has.

You will use it if you want to leave the factory one in place for a fender bib or additional pad.

When I got my Mustang 2 piece seat(3 yrs ago), only the pillion pad came with the nut. Obviously the seat you are using now has one, but you'll have to move it to the drivers position. If you got a seperate pillion pad, it should have a nut included. At least mine did...

I just went out and pulled the stock seat off. Looks like there is a hole in the fender that has a plastic plug in it now. I presume that is where the back of the Mustang Solo seat bolts. Is it possible to get a new mounting nut in there without dropping the rear wheel? Looks like I better call Mustang in the morning and have them include a new mounting nut.

actually they include a zip tie that you simply feed through the nut, fish it up, attach the retainer clip, and drop out the zip tie. Its easy ..... a new nut and clip and the zip tie will already be in the box with the new seat.

Dang... I never would have thought of that . I probably would have spent half a day trying to get my hand between the fender and the wheel.

I used a little duct tape on the end of a paint stir-stick,just poke the thread/nut part to the hole from betweeen the tire and the fender add the retaining clip . took longer to get the paint stick from the baement than to put it together, seriously 10 second job. The little retainer clip was a plastic snap ring.

If you're only running the solo seat, pop the plastic plug off, move the rear nut forward, and install the plastic plug in the rear hole.

Just in case you haven't done it yet- with the seat off and looking at the existing nut, there is a black plastic C clip that holds the nut in place. Tele00 is on the money - Fish a zip-tie up through the bottom of the nut and hold/tape it so it catches the nut when it falls. I use my thumbs and pop the C clip off. Lower the zip-tie with nut hanging on it, and fish the zip-tie up through the front hole. The nut only fits one way (it's obvious) and snap the C clip back on.

I have a detachable sissy bar/ pillion pad and swap out the plug/nut every time the wife goes for a ride. I can reach my rear nut and have the system down to a matter of seconds...
