Has anyone seen a hardtail weld in kit for an 07 street bob? I was told before that its hard to do becuase since the engine is rubber mounted it will break the belt? I was also told to contact led sled customs and they have not returned my e-mail? Any advice??

This may be totally off point, but WHY would you destroy currently the best handling frame in the HD line up???

Don't get me wrong, I had a custom 93" shovelhead in a rigid aftermarket frame and currently have a 1950 FL Panhead in a stock wishbone rigid frame and they are\were definitely cool, BUT I love my dyna lowrider. I barely ride my pan.
Second lowrider that I have owned and they are my absolute favorite.

If you want a hardtail buy struts - they will mount where your rear shocks are currently and will give you a less permanent opportunity to see what hardtailing is really like. Then if you are set on it, sell the struts and have a custom shop fab you up a weld on rear section.

Do a search for rear struts, there are a couple of members who have done this and it looks badass.

Keep in mind, you will be hard pressed to be able to sell your dyna (if you ever have to) with a welded on hardtail. Just some food for thought.

Struts are deffintely a real cheap mod and don't look bad at all; I got my not shocks on eBay for $50... certainly worth checking out if you haven't ridden a rigid as it isn't for everyone.

This is what 10.5" struts look like...

Ratty,

Those not shocks are sweet. I've seen someone running black struts and you really don't notice them unless you are really checking out the bike.

It would be easy to fab up some solid struts to try it out then you could go from there...probably less than $10 in metal stock.

Anyone have any idea how bad it would be for the swing arm bearing by going ridgid?
