Wow thankyou for the replies. I know its may be seen by some as ruining a good thing but hey thats the look I want. I am planning a trip when I return from current deployment and I think I will take some advice and bolt on some struts and see how she rides. Also, Kansas Kustoms has been e-mailed so we will see what they can offer.
I'm thinking of changing the rear end on my 09 street bob, chopping the struts and changing the fender, seat but I won't be touching the shocks,as said the best handling frame so why mess with it
I agree with not cutting up the dyna, but the looking cool comes with a cost. If you're set on doing it I would recommend three places to contact, Led Sled (call them, they are busy), Bare Knuckle Choppers, or Fab Kevin's. All of these shops have extensive experience with chopping swing arm frames and are the best in the business.
whether it's apes, loud pipes, windshields, or hardtails, someone's always gonna say you're dumb for doing this or that.
no idea if or how it'd work, but i've seen it done a handful of times on sporties, which are swingarm frames with visible suspension, so my guess is it wouldn't be TOO much different
ryderbiker pointed you in some good directions.
all i know is we better get one HELL of a build thread if you go thru with this.
If your set on doing it, go with a custom ridged frame....And do it right.
To get a soft ride, run 5lbs less air in the rear tire, thats what we used to do....
Nothing looks cleaner than a ridged frame....
