Default Painting triple trees??

I know the best method is probably powder coating, but has anyone successfully painted their triple trees....on the bike?
I was going to remove and have them blasted first, but how do I get the bearing off the lower tree so it doesnt get packed with sand?
Also, I have read the post about painting lowers with the black appliance paint and it seems to hold up well. Do you think this would work on chrome triple trees??

Thanks

i would not recomend painting them on the bike, *** you will have to use a sheet cover the whole bike and tape off and cover the frame it would be huge hassle. the bearing on the lower tree just slides off might need some perswasion with a screw driver but it will slide off. the appliance paint works great jsut make sure you do good prep work. but i would jsut have them powder coated thats what i did. dont have pics yet as i am still putting mine back together jsut picked up my rims and fresh tires today.
