Someone on here recommended drilling a half inch hole in them. I think he meant in the center of the pipe.
Gonna take a long drill bit. Said it sounded similar to the SE torque muffs.
Ok. I'll have to check into that. I just bought my 06 Dyna Street Bob last Thursday (June 1,2006) and I love it but the stock pipes need help in the sound department.

Word of caution , check with your dealer before doing anything like that ...it might void your warranty. If it doesn`t drill away my friend !
I'd recommend drilling before cutting. I put 2 1/8" holes in the end caps of the baffles on my old Sporty, and I got more volume. Almost Harley sounding.
The advantage to drilling over cutting them clean out is the phact that you still maintain some back pressure as opposed to making them into straight pipes. Better phor your performance.
But either option should only be a temporary solution. A good set of slipons can be had phairly cheaply. Cycle Shacks phor one are between a buck and a buck phifty, and will give you a hell of a lot better sound then drilled or cored stockers. AND they perform better too.
I took a long screwdriver and chiseled my away around the center baffle. It is just a flat baffle, not like the round type in aftermarkets and some stockers.
It basically made it a straight through design, but the original damping material is still there with the perforated steel holding it in.
They have a decent sound...little louder on idle and then a decent bark when you open it up.
I'd say if you just want something a little better than stock, but not obnoxious, then it will work for you.
Since me and my brother both bought new Dynas and have put slip-ons on them, I will sell the debaffled stockers for $65.00 shipped. I will keep a set of stock ones around just in case!
Can do Paypal or Money order if anyone is interested. I'm in PA.
Thanks for the replies. After reading your replies I think that I may have come up with something. I don't plan to ever be without a Harley, therefore I think that I will take some good advice and get a set of slip-ons and hopefully they will fit on the next bike I get years down the road when the time comes. I also would not want to do anything that would void my warranty, that's for sure. What types of slip-on exhaust pipes do you recomend? A guy at the local harley shop gave me a Quote of $600 to add Screaming Eagle slip-ons, Stage 1 intake kit and remapping the fuel system, including labor. ( Is this a reasonable price to have this done)?
yeah good price figures out to be 85 bux for his labor seeing the pipes list for 229 airfilter kit is 139 i thinkand dwnload is 149 so roughly 85 buxfor labor
