Okay, I've read several threads on the subject, but still looking for some opinions. 2009 fatbob ... want to go with slip ons for the upgrade (I like the look of the stock pipes) ... don't want to rattle windows when I go by, but would like a little more throat to the sound ... I just hit 2K and the stock ones sound a little deeper, but looking for good options. I've been told by the dealership that the SE slip ons are not much of an improvement, but also hear that a thousand miles on them and they start to come alive. Suggestions??
+1 on the Rush slip-ons.
I had the 1.75" on my '09 Fat Bob. They really sounded pretty good. Louder than stock, but it wasn't a "harsh" sound that would **** off the neighbors.
I then decided that I wanted something a little more conventional to the Harley sound, and went with V&H Short Shots.
But those Rush pipes did sound good.
The new SE slip-ons won't be much louder than your stock pipes.
Rush gives you a lot of options. I started with the 2" baffles and really liked them until I did a couple of 450 mile days. It took me another 2 days for my ears to stop ringing. I swapped for 1.75 baffles and think they're great. Costs about $50 to buy the baffles, if you change your mind. You can do the swap in 30 minutes.
Can't go wrong with the rush slip ons. I went witht the 2.5 baffle, but like other have stated you get plenty of options. 1.75 or 2 should meet your need for a little deeper sound without being too loud.
Rush Slip-on's here also 1.75" At first was dissapointed with the sound but after 100 miles on them they open up and sound great. One thing with the Rush and the Screaming Eagle Slip-on's, is when you hold them up and look through them you can't see thru the SE's but you can see straight thru the Rush, if that help's for anyone interested.
