droped the bike off for the first service, will see how much difference it makes.and if they do everything there suposed to do.clutch does need adj.and so does the gas linkage.and rear brake.going to stay with 3 different fluids.no sync3.also has small exhaust leak when hot we will see if they catch that. I think that 265.00 is a fair price if the do everything they are supose to
i wouldnt expect them to catch it. they only run the bike for fluid movement. theyre nort gonna run it to inspect it and all.
I would mention the leak, as well as the rear brake.
When I took mine in for the first service I told them I thought things needed to be adjusted and made sure notes were taken. Sure enough, when I picked it back up it was noted what was adjusted and what wasn't. Had I not said anything, I'm sure they wouldn't have looked it over as thoroughly.
Let's see.... 3 hole oil, and filter for the engine: (4.5qts + filter)... a couple of adjustments, snug up a head exhaust nut or two.... all in all about an hours worth of work, maybe... ~95 bucks labor. Consumables (oil, filter, o'rings) 70 bucks for good oil, filter and o'ring kit from HD. Total 165.00 (all conservative pricing I might add).
The other hundred must be the "HD".... "hundred dollars".... probably goes into the beer fund. Let the 1K be the last service that you don't do.
I just did my 5,000 mile service myself. Took the money and bought me a manual, jack and a couple torque wrenches, etc and now I can do the rest of them for price of oil and filter. Best investment I made so for.
