Sorry for not posting lately. Been real busy. Just needed to ask a question. First let me explain what brought about this question.. I have been teaching my wife how to drive my bike. Well this past Saturday she dumped my bike. Now she wants an engine guard on my bike, but I want forward controls. From what I have found, I cannot have both on my 05 Dyna Super Glide FXD. I was wondering if anyone knew otherwise. My wife severely bruised her foot, and did about 600.00 worth of damage to the bike. She was right at a complete stop when she lost it. Thanks for any and all help.
Hmmmmm.. Your a brave man..lol... Wife riding your bike.... Maybe soon to be HER bike..???.....and you get the NEW ONE....lol... Smart and Brave...GOOD ONE...!!![sm=biker2.gif]
A friend of mine let me ride his old Honda to get used to riding a full size bike on the street. I told him in return I would let him ride my Harley after I got it. That hasn't happened yet. He hasn't really been dropping any hints, but to be fair I did tell him he could ride it. The above post makes me wonder though.
Get her in a Motorcycle Safety course!! It's the best way for her to learn and will reduce your stress immensely. Plus she will be riding their bike instead of your Harley while learning -- just my opinion.

This is the exact reason why I won't let my wife ride my bike. Enroll her in the MSF they will teach her how to ride on a 250cc and she can drop that all day long. As far as forwards and engine guards, you prolly can't have both. Engine Guards are good to have, just in case you run into some gravel or wet grass or w/e, but get what you want. On my wide glide even though I would like them, they just ruin the look to me, so do what you think looks the best and enroll her in the MSF. Sorry to hear about the bike and your wife's foot.
I believe there is an engine guard that can be used with forward controls. But I would just get her the engine guard and then by yourself a new wideglide. Then you will both be happy.
