Ok finally got to fixing my license plate and adding the light. I read up on a couple peoples write ups and figured what I wanted and this is what I came up with.
First I used the stock license plate backing that came with the bike and used the L bracket that was used to hold the belt cover, which came off when I added passenger pegs and some bolts I had lying around. In Texas I needed to add a light to the plate to be legal. I ordered a black LED light frame from radiantz.com. Wiring it was going to be the trick.
I bought a Service Manual like everyone suggests, which is a great piece in my arsenal now. I saw on here somewhere someone run the wires through the swing arm and came out near the back axle bolt. I chose to use black wire lume to run the wires in and zip ties. Easy but still did the job. I wired the +POS into the Orange/White wire under the seat which runs the taillight.
DONT USE THE RED/YELLOW ITS TO THE ACTIVE BRAKE LIGHT! (Your light will come on when you hit the brakes)
I grounded the other one and ..DONE!
Hope this helps with anyone wondering how to do this.
Thanks guys, Im really happy with the outcome of it.
I will say it is very bright at night!
WOW!!!!! that is the exact same thing i had in mind for my sb i just removed the L bracket from the belt guard but i was still trying to figure out what to use to hold up the license plate.......is it possible for you to take some pics of the backside of the set up just so i can see how you bolted the sucker down, if you dont mind.
