the only thing that is going to cost you and the reason cams are not in my scoot right now is the dyno tune... a good tune out here cose 300 bucks! i just can not afford that right now plus the cams, tools, gaskets, and push rods that puts me around 600 doing it myself... ill just have to wait till taxes and do my heads too

I paid $228.for my cams and with the install kit total cost was $300. I pulled my rockers and used my stock pushrods, and my auto-tune dialed in my cams just right. I do my own work and I'm learning more about my bike while I'm at it.

You can line up your oil pump with the oil pump bolts. No need for the line up screws IMO. I didn't need them.

I didn't pull the bearings, I was only at 3000 miles when I did it, I did get the line up screws from Georges Garage. The price you were quoted for the job is good.

I bought some countersunk screws to align my oil pump, worked like a champ. I did not use the lock tool and had no problem. As far as the cam bearings, 06 and later they are non-existant in the cam plate. The inner bearing I re-used, low miles at the time and no funny wear on the cams I pulled out. It was easy to do, I say go for it!

did you leave the gas tank on during the install?

were you able to just pull the pushrods out when you got the rockers off?

is the rocker gaskets the only gaskets you needed on top?

Thanks

The tank has to come off if you don't go with adjustable push rods. If you don't remove it you can't get to all the bolts.

Once you pull the top rocker box you need to remove the rocker arm and breather, the lower box stays on the head. Follow the tech manual to a t on the arms, if you do it wrong you can warp the frame/base. With the arm out the push rod comes right out.

Up top you need the gasket for the top cover and the breather gaskets.

I left mine on, I just unbolted and raised it up a little.

i would think that it would actually be easier to use the stock pushrods

little work to get tank off but not that bad

gaskets are cheaper than adjustable pushrods

and stock pushrods will never change
