For the record, I've had one of the adapters separate while the bike was on the lift. Not catastrophic but it could have been if I wasn't paying attention.
The HD lift blocks don't look as big as a 2x4, are they?
I was about to order the HD lift blocks. Maybe I should pass on them?
It don't much matter how tall they are (to an extent, I guess) the point is to jack the bike up into the air... The 2x4s maybe slightly taller, but that just means you have to kick your jack just that little bit less...LOL. Can't beat the price, and satisfaction of avoiding the stealer!

I thought the HD adapters were designed to lift three frame contact points just high enough to align with the fourth contact point? If that is true then the wood blocks wood need to be the proper height.
Am I missing something? Does the HD adapter kit comes with three blocks?

It comes with 3 blocks and 1 C channel adapter that fits the one odd-ball corner that extends below the oil pan. So, four pieces in total.
Ok, so the three blocks will ensure that all four frame contact points sit evenly on the jack. If you use three 2x4s then won't the three frame contact points on the wood be higher than the frame point by the oil pan?
