FBRide, Why this setup for the Fat Bob? Why not just own a touring bike? It can't be money cause you could buy a touring bike with the amount you got w/bike and upgrades. So why the Dyna? Btw I like your setup I ride a FXDF myself. Or will you trade in the Dyna for a touring after owing your current HOG for a couple of riding seasons.

Why this setup for the Fat Bob?
A couple of reasons. First, I have a herniated disk in my back and I needed a backrest to help relieve the pressure when riding. The seat really does help. Ugly but it helps.

I've added barebacks now so the bags are removable. In fact they're stored away right now.

I bought the GPS for the back road riding, music and it's bluetoothed to my cell. I get calls from work often.

In a nutshell, I love the FB and the way it rides. If I go to a touring model I'll miss the Dyna ride. If I just add stuff to the FB when needed I get the best of both worlds.

Good question! Thanks!

I know what you mean, the handling and the ride are wonderful on the Fat Bob, and I want to keep mine, and can't afford a touring bike as well. My saddlebags are always on as this is my only vehicle and I do grocery shopping etc. with the bike and it's great to have bags so that you can be ready to haul if you want to. I've never had music or a phone while riding and don't need to, but I did mount a compass (from Victory MoCo) on the handlebars for those Farm Market and other back roads.

How do the Barebacks work for you? Do they sit the bags very far off the bike like Ghost Brackets? I've got the same bags you do and they are hard mounted. Detachable would be nice, especially for cleaning the rear wheel.

This seat looks great. This is the setup I'm looking for. Did you get this from Mustang? Part #'s?

Very nice setup. I have the same seat setup for my Bob with the exception of no backrest for my seat. I have a set of Saddlemen bags I'm modifying for quick detach and I also modified a Slipstreamer Stealth fairing to fit the dual headlight Bob setup.

I got the Mustang seats for my comfort and for the Wife. She loves the wide passenger seat, as she has herniated disks in her back as well. That seat is the only one she can sit on and doesn't immediately cause pain. A friend rode on back and said the seat was so comfy, she almost fell asleep.

The Barebacks work very well. It's a little hard to get the bags on and off because they're so tight. I was impressed with how rigid they are and how they hold up. They do stick out with about an inch gap between the side of the trim and the bag. I believe it's about the same distance as the ghost bracket except you can see between the bags and bike with the Barebacks. I've gotten use to the gap when the bags are on.

HogNewBie - go to the Dennis Kirk web site and search the mustang seats. You'll see it there as well as the passenger seat and sissy bar pad.

You should try the street glide. I think it may suit you very well.
