Default Tool kit

No, not the ready made ones from Hundred dollar...

What do you carry for tools? I'm putting my "kit" together and would like to hear what others have or think are the important ones to have. I bought a fork bag I mounted below my regulator and I'm ready to fill it.

I had a cheap bag hanging under my regulator, but picked up a nice bag on sale at Doug's HD. Nice plain heavy black leather. A machinist friend of mine made a bracket out of aluminum angle to mount it under the triple tree on my Fat bab.

Got a small triple a flashlight, multibit screwdriver, Folding TORX set, adjustable wrench, tire plugger, plugs, tire inflator, CO2 cartridges, rag, electrical tape, duct tape, three feet of twelve ga insulated wire, pliers w/side cutters.

Well, those are words to live by! However, I don't own a cell phone. I know...

I use the Windzone EK-1HD tool kit. Not from Hundred Dollar, but a kit nonetheless. A darned good one at that.

You can find them on eBay for $47 plus free shipping.

A hammer, duct tape, bailing wire, vice grips, and a little spit-n-chewing gum.
If it takes more than that, then it'll take more than what you have in the bag.

Oh, and a pair of panty hose. Not that theyre good for anything, but its fun to watch the look on their faces when you pull them out....

Now that looks like a great kit! Thanks for the link and I'll check out ebay.

Thanks for the advice all. I do have towing on my insurance and a credit card...hoping to never have to use the tools or towing! However, I did have a peg come lose (forgot the loctite, doh) and on a trip almost lost the peg. No tools, and I was worried. Rolled into a small town, found a auto body shop and a nice guy helped me out. Gave him a $5 tip for the help and I have been meaning to put some basic tools in a bag to take from now on.

I'm with you Vinsil, it is always a good idea to be prepared for minor roadside repairs. The last thing I want to do is sit and wait for help, just because I didn't have a basic hand tool. 30+ years of riding and racing, on and off road, one of the most useful emergency tools is a high quality "needle nose" vice grips. Carry one.
