Hey dudes, I dropped my bike a few weeks ago and bent the clutch lever and messed up the derby cover. No big deal; gives me a reason to get the wrinkle black derby cover and the black hand control levers I've been eyeing.
I did just the brake lever tonight, and I was careful not to mess up the brake light actuator button thingy. I got the anchor pin back in, but now when I grab the brake lever, the lights light up - but they won't go back when I let go. I've gotta sorta nudge the lever towards the front, and then they go off. Not a big deal, but it's going to annoy the hell out of me if I don't fix it. I tried getting a little grease on the anchor pin and in between the horizontal brackets directly above and below the lever, but it's still doing the same thing.
Anybody have any experience with this? Will it sort of "loosen up" after a while? Do I need to grease it a little more?
Any info is appreciated.
PS - that little fastener that goes on the end of the anchor pin on the bottom to keep it in place is a son of a bitch... think I'm going to go buy the spreader tool tomorrow and make it easy on myself.
the lever is binding somewhere holding it slightly engaged...after running it awhile you could take it back off and tell where its rubbing by wear spots on the lever... probally just a matter of sanding it down a little in that spot.. my clutch did the same thing and i was always mindful to keep it pushed out after shifting and it finally just broke itself in and quit rubbing..
if yours are powder coated they may also be too tight where the large pin slides through it.. lightly sand it inside the hole till the pin moves freely ..
