Two questions-- what's the easiest way to get a wide glide front end on my 09 superglide custom. looking for a little extra rake, but want to keep my original front tire. Also, if I want a bobtail rear, do I get a wide glide or fat bob rear fender. Thanks guys.
I can't really answer either of your questions but I have a '99 Dyna Custom Low Rider that the previous owner put a Wide Glide front end on. It definitely has more rake and looks very cool. Instead of keeping the original rubber, 19" I believe, he put the larger, Wide Glide tire on it-- pretty sure it's a 21 incher. He said he was told by an HD mechanic that the ride would be less stable with the Low Rider's original front wheel and tire, hence the bigger one.
Look up posts by "WS6 Formula" for specific details about putting a Wide Glide front end on your bike.
The easiest way is to purchase the Wide Glide trees (which have 2 degrees rake) and a WG front wheel which will keep the rotor lined up with the caliper's new position.
You can also use wide glide trees and your wheel, but will need custom spacers for the fender, axle and for the caliper or rotor.
To go with a bobtail fender, you can go with a 06 - 08 Wide Glide fender, strut covers and tail light/license plate mounting hardware. Harley also sells a bobtail fender and install kit which has everything you need to swap. They also offer pre-painted kits.
