I think the Softails ride a little smoother. However I think the Dynas handle and perform better than the Softails. Therefore I will stick with my Dyna. I will sacrifice alittle comfort for performance anytime.

If smoothness is your major concern, perhaps a Goldwing would be best.
I have been on most HD models and never gave any thought to smoothness, because it is not a concern for me. Handling and performance are what get me going, that and American made iron customized the way I want it.
I own a not quite stock 2002 WG. I test road a 2009 Softail Custom. The Softail road and sounded like a caddy compared to my WG. I didn't like it. Test ride them both - see which you like.
