Default Real stupid shock question

I was all set to order new Progressive 12" 412"s for my 06 Low Rider when for some unknown reason I decided to measure the ones on now. Trying to lower about 1/2" and I thought the OEM shocks were 12 5/8" c to c. The current shocks measure 11 3/4" c to c of the mounting bolts. Preload is set on 2. What in the world do I have now???? OEM shocks that have been shortened?? No sense ordering 12" if that's what I have now??

You measured them with the shock off the bike or at least with the load removed from the shocks, right?

I think the physics of mass and gravity may be having an affect on your measurements. LOL. Those look like stock LR shocks - that's the good news. The bad news is, I'm fairly certain that the LR comes with 12" stockers, not 12 5/8".

Yup. In fact, off the wall fact...ALL the 2010 Dyna's now come with 12" shocks. I imagine this was to save money for the MOCO, however it also makes them all more user friendly for our shorter inseam having types.

I guess that is why they no longer needed the Low Rider if all the Dynas sit lower now.

True, that and the WG that replaced it was too similar in pricing I would assume too.
