Default strange noise issue

hello to all,
just upgraded to a 2009 street bob a week ago and only have 300 miles on it. have noticed a noise coming from the left side of the rear of the bike. it is a rubbing sound and happens as soon as i let off of the throttle and coast when i am slowing down (no braking is occurring). it only seems to occur as i decelerate. any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

New bike with 300 miles? I would venture to say the belt and rear pulley slightly out of alignment / the belt seating on the rear pulley. IMHO

Same thing happened with my FXDC when I got it new, get the dealer to check it out ASAP, My rear wheel was slightly out, it took 5 mins for the technican to sort it.

I have the same noise on my 08 ( 19,000 miles )
I had the mechanic at the dealer test
ride it and he said he heard nothing
I thought it might be a wheel bearing
but they wanted to charge me to pull the
wheel , they did check belt tension ,
wheel alignment , swing arm play
and all was good .

another guy I know has a Fat Bob that is
doing the same thing , this was his post

"Recently I have developed a WhAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA from my
09 FatBob.Or maybe it's a Mooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooan.

I have a little less than 7000 miles on it and just developed this damn noise. Only happens at 40 mph either when slowing down or cornering in either direction at 40 mph. Doesn't matter if the clutch is in or out.

And a PM to me as to what they have done to his bike so far

They replaced the inner primary bearing at 1500miles and the rear wheel bearings at 6k-they were leaking.

Then they said the factory said to clean the drive pulley and treat the belt. still no change. Mine is especially bad on left turns, although it will do it even in a lane change.
Mine only does it between 35-45mph and really loud at 40mph. They're checking at with the factory again. Keep me posted ['ll do the same.

With the very low miles that your bike has ( 300 ) that pretty much
eliminates any defective bearing and both of us have had belt
tension and alignment checked on our bikes I'm beginning to think it
it is the belts that HD is using and putting belt lube on them is not
working.

Maybe someone else has some info or help on this

Make them swap your belt for a new one.
