mojo, I've been using the mini for a couple months now. It's strapped to the seat on my FXD35. carries my lunch to work and a few groceries home at night. Works pretty good but the straps keep getting loose, it's not really made for this app. like the larger one. Overall I'm happy with it but it does have it's issues. oregonrider.
THX, I was thinking that might work pretty good strapped to a motherwell rack since I just have a solo seat but for back and forth to work I carry a laptop and if the straps come loose that may not be a good thing. but if I get layed off then I guess I wouldnt feel so bad if it fell off. I just saw where it said it unzipped and you could carry part of it like a backpack and thought that may be handy. mojo
Hey Tommay,,did you turn your front fender around backwards, it looks BADD_A$$
Not exactly, reversed the support and moved the fender back to use the forward fender hole in the rearmost support hole and redrilled the lower bolthole that bolts to the slider to get the right fender to tire spacing.
I got the HD detachable bags w/spear instaled when I bought my 06 Dyna. Waited 2 weeks for dealership to do it along with installing forward controls (also bought detachable windshield, sissy bar luggage rach and licence plate holder). I probably wouldn't have dropped the big bucks for those items but I got 25% off on the parts & installation during HD's July 4th weekend sale. Couldn't stand the thought of paying 25% "extra" later on, so I had the work done and I'm glad I did. I love having a "quick change" bike that goes from stripped to "touring" in a couple minutes.
The touring bag TOMMAY has is an awesome setup. My dad has one on his Heritage. I love all of the storage, the "hardness" of the outside, and how it slips over the sissy bar for use with or without a passenger. I ESPECIALLY love the lumbar support pad for when you have no passenger and have the bag facing as TOMMAY does in his pics. It's definitely tops in my HD todo list!
Here's an animated GIF I made showing my bike with both configurations:
heres a sort-of-good pic of the bags I got at Myrtle Beach from leon leather. they are very easy to slip on or off from under the seat for when ya need'em or don't.
I travel a lot so I bought a set of Willie & Max Black Magic compact throw over bags now.
You will have a problem on the right side with it hitting the rotor unless you wire tie it away,
and it will take a few ties. I decided to go with the Easy Mounts brackets (there goes the budget)
and found out I needed to move the t/s lights. Sooo, I bought the lay down tag bracket/ turn
relocation kit (more $$$) and finally finished all that Tuesday. Well, now with all that done the
bags don't look right so I'm sending them back for the Willie & Max large slants. I swear, after all
was said and done, I would have been better off going to MoCo.
