Default Dyna bars

Now that I'm settling in with the Dyna Low, I went for a 140 mile run yesterday and I'm finding the bars a bit too far forward for comfort, the height is fine but I'm quite a short guy and have often had problems with bar reach on previous bikes. I've tried tipping them back a bit but it's not enough, they need to come about 2 inches futher back.

I looked at getting some risers with a bigger pull back but if I do that there's a good chance they'll hit the speedo and tacho bezel.

Has anyone else has a similar problem, if so how did you get around it, are there any diffrent bars I could try? Normally I wouldn't bother, I'd just learn to put up with it and get used to it. The problem is have a medical condition that gives me very painful joints / muscles, and the clutch being quite heavy on the Dyna coupled with my arms being too stretched forward have given me big painful problems today! I've stuff hurting here that I didn't know I had!

Flat track bars work pretty good for what you want. I've got these Drag Specialties bars on my FXDC for more pullback.
Drag # 0601-0575
STYLE: Flat track, END RISE: 4.5", WIDTH: 30.5", CENTER WIDTH: 7.5", PULLBACK: 11.25", FINISH: Chrome

Flanders also has some good looking flat track bars here.

They look like they may do the business M/D. What about the angle they put your wrists at, could that be problem? Have you got a shot of them on your bike that you could post?

Has something changed in the past couple of years with the clutches? I find mine quite effortless to pull and usually just use 2 fingers or sometimes even 1.

With that said, when it comes to bars, it's hard judge by pictures or what fits other people. Properly fitting bars make a big difference though. See if you can sit on some similar bikes with different bars to see what fits better. Or, do what I did, go to the dealer and spend an hour or two take different bars and holding them up on a bike like yours or even your bike as best you can til you find the ones that fit best. I was surprised with what I ended up with but they fit so well.

I adjusted my wife's lowrider bars back about 2". You can loosen up the hand controls to get them angled correctly.

Had a similar issue with my Lowrider bars and changed to stock 09 Super Glide Custom bars. Not sure if any stealers still have that model in stock but you may want to see if if can sit on one to get a feel. Bars are like everything else what works for one person may not work for you. My new bars allow me to rotate them until I found a great position for my hands.

Don't have any pics of these bars, but I'll try and get some in the next couple days. My wrists bend outward a little if I hold the grips tight, so I don't do that. I just lay my hands on top of the grips and keep my wrists straight, doesn't bother me at all.
BTW, the bars from Drag aren't knurled, but mine haven't moved in the two years I've had them.

You can install a lighter pull clutch, or different clutch lever for the pull issues.

I'm no expert, but I believe in '07 the MOCO started using an "easy pull" clutch. Don't know the mechanics of it, but I think I read about it in some forum or another. Anyone else familiar w/this?
