I think this is the setup I want once I'm ready, but need to pick brains.
If I understand correctly, the PC3 is pre-programmed, and basically 'fools' the ECM into running the settings needed. But, with the SERT, you can program as needed?
Am I correct in that using the Big Radius pipes, the O2 sensors get eliminated? Hopefully there aren't many problems with this.
Ugh, so much info on this site, and I am still asking questions that have probably been answered many times already. Sorry and thanks in advance.
Power Commander has a map for that application with the big radius and the HD stage 1. You can program the power commander yourself. Its not hard at all. You will still use the O2 sensors, but they will not be hooked up.
the pc3 will come stock with a zero map. you or whomever you buy it from can load a map specifically for your modifications. that map will be ok but no where near optimal like a custom map. the pc3 can be programmed again and again, just like a SERT.
I don't know if the big radius pipes have 02 bungs welded in or not, however its not an issue becuase the pc3 does not use them anyway.

I have a powercommander, harley stage 1, and the big radius. Going to have a custom map done next Sat. If the PC3, doesn't use the o2 sensors how does it change for elevation and temperature and all of that? Thanks.
It doesnt have to with the PCIII on there. The changes are very very minimal as far as the o2 sensors are concerned. There is really no need for them on a bike. If you know you are gonna go to an area of the country with higher elevations you can manually make small adjustments to the pciii without being connected to a computer.
As far as the custom map goes. The people that run the dyno here in town said that the canned map for the big radius, and High flow AC is going to be pretty good for everyday street use.
If however you are looking for the very very very best possible outcome for your bike then the dyno with custom map will give you a little more, but not much to even notice a difference.
Thats what the dynojet people say. we are talking going from 90-95% efficient to 98-99%. Not really a huge difference in performance.
