Well, somehow this easy job took almost four hours to complete. Ran into bolt size issues, cut a few down to length. Cables were long enough except for the clutch cable (which looked like it had enough slack before I started. I re-routed it so that it will give me a complete turn radius but there is some very slight bow stringing so I will have to replace it sooner or later (probably sooner because I am obsessive compulsive about that kind of thing. Changed out the brake line to a braided steel one. Didn't get around to buying grips as I kinda went crazy and just got started as soon as the bars came in Anyway, here is what it looks like at this point. I will clean up the wiring when I get to changing out the clutch cable. It is running fine now that the breaks have been bled (brakes are better than they were before).
I find it MUCH more comforable than what the drag bars felt like! I think I like the look better as well on this bike. Aside from the frustration that I always seem to experience when a job should be relatively simple, I am pretty happy with the results.
No, the grips are still stock as I haven't gotten aorund to getting my iso grips yet. There is a lip under the switch housing on the clutch side and a slight amount of adhesive that I just twisted until it broke free. Heck, that turned out the be the easy part of this job.
I have found that I never tackle a job anymore, thinking that it's going to be simple. Too many of them have kicked my *** because I wasn't prepared mentally
You did a GREAT job on those bars! Thanks for sharing the photos!
What was the total cost?
What were the dimensions of the bars? HD brand or something else?
I paid 72 bucks for the bars from DZ Customs and 29 bucks for the risers from So Cal Premier. The brake line (part # 45206-97B) was 44 bucks from Hill Country Customs.
The bars are 1" Diameter, 32" Wide, 10" High, 7" Pullback.
