The trade off for the excellent ride was the lifespan. The rear only lasted about 7000 miles. I had previously gotten close to 10K on both Metzlers and Dunlops. I was told that prior to buying them, so the was no surprise.
Front lasted about 12,000. I had previously gotten 15,000 out of a Metzler.
I really liked the Michelins, but they are not a long life tire.
I was just noticing that last night at a dealer when I was checking out a 2010 FXDC and noticed it had Michelins on it. I first thought maybe it was just a very clean used bike or a dealer swap out on a new bike but then I saw Harley-Davidson on the tires too so I checked out the tag to see that it was a new 2010 model. I wonder now if or does Michelin put out a 180 tire to fit the stock dyna rear rim like Dunlop does/did?
Anyway, I have no experience with Michelin bike tires but they make great car and SUV tires in my opinion. They tend to last longer because of a harder compound but they don't give up a nice ride in order to get that longevity. Because of that, they typically cost a bit more. But when you break it down to cents per mile compared to other tires, they are usually the better buy.
The had a display at Sturgis, and said they are working on a FULL line for Harley, they do not have matching front and rear sets, at least in August, but tire wear is a concern, and testing is ongoing, in casual riding the Macadam had a good life, but agrerssive touring can wear them quicker than they like---so updating is continual.
I have the Michelins on my new 2010 Street Bob. Whenever I lean (left or right) going approx 30-40mph I get a medium frequency vibration on the front end. I did a little research and some have attributed it to "poor" tread pattern on the front tire. I am getting the 1000 mile done soon and will bring it up.

I'd be interested to see what is said about that when you get the service.I'm experiencing the same with my '10 SB.
