Yup my dealer said just under 3k for the first 50 which was the trip home from the dealer so he said after you get home ride it like you stole it, we'll give you call in 30 days and see she's running
Just don't ride at the same RPM for more than a couple of min. at a time. At least for the first few hundred miles. I haven't had any problems w/ mine and I didn't follow any break in rules, I just ride, and most of the time ride hard.
If you don't have a tach keep it under fifty. Read your manual it'll tell you just that. I just broke 1k on mine and I stayed off highways for the first 500 staying in the twisties as much as possible to vary my speed. People have all sorts of ideas on breakin but it's your bike dude and your money at risk. Enjoy
Basically, I have heard two ideas...break in hard...break in softly. I went with breaking her in softly for the first 50 miles and riding her normal/hard the rest of the way to seat the valves. My bike just went over 1000k miles and is getting service done. Its pulls like a champ and sounds great. I have not had any problems. The only thing I haven't done is drag race the bike off the line...which I will be doing when the service is done . Makes sense to me get the parts moving and lubricated during the first 50 miles or, so and after than run her the way she was meant to be...and thats run! I had a 150 mile ride home from the dealer, so I knew the engine was warm and all of that good stuff. Later.
