On the front I always use the crosstie at the front of the frame just below the regulator.

For the rear, one way is over the top of the frame.............

At the rear, I like the strap over the trans/primary better.

If you're gonna jack around with the rear of the machine, support under the front tire.

Could you please measure the distance between your jack's lifting pads? I'm interested in the inside edge to inside edge distance.

Thanks.

I assume the inner edges, that is pretty wide. What kind of jack do you have?

Sorry, thought that was implied by the preceding conversation.

I've got a J&S jack, and wouldn't have any other. The J&S and Pitbull are the only two that I've seen advertised that lift a Dyna without adapters. I'm sure the Pitbull is an exceptional lift, but the price is significantly higher than the J&S.

I started out with a cheaper lift, but never felt comfortable when the bike was up. Not because of the lift, but because of the POS Dyna lift adapters. The stability provided by the extra width (separation) of the lift rails on the J&S make straps seem like wearing a belt and suspenders.

Thanks. I'm guessing that your frame contact points are behind the oil pan (and the steel blade extension on the exhaust pipe side of the frame) and in front of the kickstand mount on the frame? Does your lift pad fit behind the rubber part on the derby cover side of the frame (shown below)?

I'm afraid I won't be able to check that for you till this weekend. I've got a lotta crap going on this week.

On the exhaust side, the lift rails go in front of the mid-peg mounting boss, and behind the blade (just barely). I haven't looked closely at the primary side. The rails are 13 inches apart so you can measure back from the front of the mid-peg mounting boss to see where the aft lift rail starts.
